Un artefacto explotó al paso de un convoy que trasladaba al primer ministro de Palestina, Rami Hamdallah, a Gaza. El mandatario sobrevivió al atentado. Aunque ningún grupo se adjudica el atentado, la Autoridad Nacional Palestina responsabilizó al movimiento islamista Hamás del suceso. Hamdallah viajaba a Gaza para inaugurar una planta de aguas residuales.
