America’s best airlines, according to The Points Guy
Best airlines in the US: The Points Guy (TPG) the specialist air travel website, has released its round-up of the best American airlines. Click through the gallery to find out which came out on top.

9. Hawaiian Airlines: At number nine is Hawaiian Airlines. "At The Points Guy we're very consumer-first," says the website's CEO Brian Kelly. "I think there are a lot of airline rankings that are done by the airline industry that don't necessarily rank the things that are important to consumers, like price."

8. JetBlue: JetBlue took the number eight spot: "I personally fly JetBlue a lot and love JetBlue, so it was a kind of surprise to see them at number eight," reflects Kelly. "But when you go through the data, they're just not great in many areas and in on time performance they really dropped a lot."

7: Spirit Airlines: At number seven is Spirit Airlines. "I feel very strongly that we use data behind all of these rankings and we just had to let the data speak, we didn't move people around based on our biases," says Kelly.

6: American Airlines: At number six is American Airlines. Kelly says he is a loyal American Airlines customer."I definitely think these results try to push me to think outside of the little bubble that I live in," he says.

5: Frontier Airlines: Breaking into the top five is Frontier Airlines. The rankings were based on 10 different criteria -- data totals for each were converted to a 10 point scale.

4: United Airlines: United might have made headlines with a controversial passenger incident in 2017, but it only dropped two slots in TPG's round-up.

3: Delta Airlines: Delta jumped four spots this year in TPG's ranking. "Their frequent flier program isn't as strong as the other two [United and American], considering it's a better run airline, it runs more smoothly and their employees are generally happier," says Kelly.

2: Southwest Airlines: Southwest ranked at number six in 2017. For the 2018 shortlist, it's grabbed second place thanks to its increased route network and low airfare prices.

1: Alaska Airlines: Air Alaska and Virgin America have combined to become a customer favorite. Alaska ranked highly in airfare prices, on-time arrivals and its frequent flier program.
