Flaris LAR 01 —
The Polish-made Flaris LAR 01 is a single-engine light jet that can cruise speeds of up to 700 kilometers per hour and accommodate up to four people.

Airborne acrobatics —
French pilot Catherine Maunoury flies a low-wing aerobatic Extra SC 330. The Extra SC is the only single-pilot plane created by Extra Aircraft Company, which designs acrobatic aircraft.

Patrouille Acrobatique de France —
The Patrouille Acrobatique de France demonstrates its skills as part of the opening ceremony at the Le Bourget Air Show, near Paris. The French Air Force team is a regular fixture at the show.

Rafale military airplane —
The Le Bourget Airshow is one of the biggest aviation marketplaces for civilian and military aircraft. Here a Dassault Rafale fighter jet -- used in conflicts in Afghanistan, Libya and Iraq -- performs over the event.

Bombardier CS300 —
It's also a chance for major manufacturers to show off their new hardware. The twin-engined CS300 from Canadian manufacturer Bombardier is among aircraft being put through their paces. The plane is currently scheduled to enter service in early 2016.

Dassault Falcon 8X —
The long-range Dassault Falcon 8X private jet was making its Paris debut. The prototype first took to the sky earlier this year and has yet to begin rolling off the production line.

NH90 military helicopter —
This French Army NH90 Tactical Transport Helicopter is another military aircraft making an appearance above Le Bourget. The helicopter, seen here in its "Caiman" iteration, was first introduced in 1995.

JF 17 Thunder —
Pakistan Air Force Wing Commander Usman Ali, left, and Squadron Leader Yaser Mudasser, right, pose in front of a JF 17 Thunder. The fighter jet is a joint project between plane-makers in Pakistan and China.

Electric plane —
The Airbus E-Fan is a prototype electric plane. It seats two people and can fly more than 200 kilometers per hour. This concept plane is one of a new wave of experimental aircraft aimed at making air travel more environmentally friendly.

Dreamliner —
This Vietnam Airlines-liveried Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner's near vertical takeoff on its way to the show made it a YouTube sensation.

Airbus A350 XWB —
The Airbus A350XWB was also demonstrating its capabilities in the skies above Le Bourget.

Aeroflot crew —
The Airshow is also a chance for airlines to display some of their planes, facilities and staff. Here the cabin crew of the Russian airline Aeroflot salute as they walk through the airshow on its second day.

'The Grizzly' —
The Airbus A400M military transport plane, also known as "the Grizzly" is among the larger stars of the show. The aircraft was flying again after being grounded following a fatal crash in Spain in May.
