1. Paris: For the second year in a row, the French capital has been named the world's most attractive tourism destination in the Top 100 City Destinations Index 2022.

2. Dubai: In second place, Dubai had the most international arrivals per city, leading the way in tourism performance.

3. Amsterdam: The Dutch capital's business chops got praise. It "is one of the hyper-connected hubs supporting a strong startup ecoystem in Europe," said Euromonitor.

Madrid: Madrid and Barcelona both made the top 10, with three more Spanish cities appearing in the overall ranking.

Rome: Italy led the way in Europe, though, with six of its cities making the grade.

London: The UK capital had a good year, moving up two places in the ranking since 2021.

7. Munich: The cities were assessed across six categories, including tourism policy and performance, sustainability, infrastructure, health and safety and economic performance.

8. Berlin: While the capital slipped down the rankings this year, Germany still put in a very strong performance.

9.Barcelona: Intra-regional travel was big this year and this coastal hotspot is one of Europe's favorite places for a getaway.

10. New York: New York and Dubai were the only cities to break Europe's stranglehold over the top of the leader board.
