Felix Rome in Kenya: British photographer Felix Rome spent lockdown feeling like the only tourist in Kenya. His wildlife photos of lions, elephants and giraffes are the reward.

Elephant walk: Rome is a photographer in residence for Governor's Camp, a group of safari camps and lodges.

Seen from above: Rome was supposed to move around the different properties but wound up staying indefinitely at the one in Kenya's Masai Mara.

Sky high: Rome shot aerial photos from a hot air balloon.

Lush life: Acacia and date trees are both native to the Mara.

Day of the jackal: One animal Rome loved learning about was the jackal (pictured), which reminds him of the foxes he grew up around in England.

Hippo hangout: Hippos will sometimes make grunting noises when they disagree with each other.

Leopard love: Just like their domesticated house cat relatives, big cats will sleep pretty much anywhere.

Sunny day: Impalas, like the ones pictured here, are often active at sunrise.

Family pride: Unlike their parents, lion cubs still have lots of energy to run off during the day.

Team hang: Groups of hippos are known as a pod.

Roaming free: Spending lots of time in one place means getting to know individual animals. This leopard is named Romi.

Slow burn: Rome witnessed one of the periodic controlled burns in the Mara, which ensures that new grass will grow.

Four tops: The plural noun for a group of giraffes is a tower, but when they're moving it's a journey. Talk about a metaphor.
