Opening in September, "Spectrosynthesis -- Asian LGBTQ Issues and Art Now" is set to become the first LGBTQ-themed exhibition in a major Asian art museum.

The exhibition comes just months after a groundbreaking court ruling that will see Taiwan become the first place in Asia to legalize same-sex marriage.

The show is being co-organized by the not-for-profit LGBTQ art organization, Sunpride Foundation.

"Buck of Freedom"(2015) by Hsi Shih-pin —
Sunpride Foundation's founder Patrick Sun chose to host the exhibition in Taiwan because of its progressive approach to LGBTQ issues.

"Interface" (2001-2017) by Chen Chien-pei —
"We hope that the public will have a better understanding for the LGBTQ community after seeing the show, and that the LGBTQ community will feel less isolated and lonely -- more proud and confident to be who they are," said Sun.

"Ferocactus Peninsulae V. Viscainensis" (1997-98) by Martin Wong —
"We want to reach not only the LGBTQ community or art circles -- we want a general public (audience)," said Sun. "That's why we launched the exhibition in a public institution."

"The Life and Death in Venice"(2010) by Ming Wong —
Ming Wong's video installation is inspired by Luchino Visconti's film adaptation of Thomas Mann's novella "Death in Venice," a story of an older man's obsessive love for an attractive young man.

"Muted Situations #5: Muted Chorus" (2016) by Samson Young —
Hong Kong artist Samson Young's video piece strips away the music of a choral performance, leaving behind only the background sounds.

"For How We Perceived A Life (Take 3)" (2012) by Wu Tsang —
Chinese-American artist and filmmaker Wu Tsang often explores issues relating to LGBTQ communities in her work.

"The History of Fugue" (2012) by Xing Yan —
Sun hopes to bring the exhibition to his hometown, Hong Kong, while curator Sean Hu wants to show the exhibition in less socially liberal Asian countries.
