This life-sized "origami-inspired" cardboard Lexus took a team of five modelers three months to build.

The cardboard car contains no sheet metal, glass or plastics, but is built on a steel and aluminium frame.

An electric motor allows the car to move.

Made from 1,700 fully recyclable laser-cut cardboard sheets, the one-off replica has functioning lights.

The rolling wheels are branded with the names of the three companies involved, Lexus, and London-based Scales & Models and LaserCut Works.

The seats took a few attempts to get just right, according to Ruben Marcos, of Scales and Models.

The modelers paid close attention to detail -- cup-holders included.

TV presenter Kevin McCloud test drove the car at a consumer exhibition in Birmingham, UK.

The car is on show until 11 October.
