Artist Michael Landy lives with only the bare minimum of furnishings in his home.

His London home has beds, a table and a few chairs.

In 2001, Landy famously destroyed his worldly possessions -- all 7,227 of them -- as part of a performance art piece.

Destruction has been a recurring theme for the Young British Artist, who rose to prominence in the late 1980s.

"For me, bringing something into the house is a big psychological and intellectual issue," Landy said.

Landy's London home, designed by Marta Nowicka, was once a fruit and vegetable warehouse.

The spacious white bedroom came at the request of Landy's wife, the artist Gillian Wearing, who wanted it to look like a hotel.
