• Sarita Harilela is an Executive Producer for CNN International based in the Asia Pacific headquarters of Hong Kong.

    Harilela spearheads all production in Asia including news, feature programming and planning. She oversees all live content out of the region, in particular, breaking news.

    She also oversees all non-news programmes including the 30-minute monthly show Talk Asia as well as CNN's franchise series and theme weeks. In addition, she manages the planning team which works on original content for news programmes worldwide including securing key newsmakers.

    Harilela works closely with the news and feature production teams in Atlanta, London and Abu Dhabi. Working alongside the Hong Kong news desk, she is responsible for pushing content from the Asia-Pacific region and works with her counterparts in various production hubs on programming changes according to breaking news of the day.

    Harilela started as an intern with CNN International in 2001 and took up a fulltime position as a writer in 2004 after graduating with a Bachelor in Journalism. She has held various positions at CNN including producing news and feature shows, executing planning and breaking news coverage for major stories such as the Hong Kong protests, the terror attacks in Sri Lanka and New Zealand, Typhoon Haiyan, missing Malaysian airliner MH370, Japan Earthquake, Mumbai Bombings and the Asian Tsunami. She's been involved with some of CNN's big field coverage operations like the Royal Wedding of William & Kate in 2011 and the Beijing Olympics in 2008.

    She is from Hong Kong, but has lived in Thailand and the United States.
