  • Sam Petulla is a Multi-Platform Editor for CNN Politics.

    Petulla joins CNN from NBC News, where he was a visual journalist and used data and visualizations to report and comment on the news. During the 2016 election, he oversaw data visualization for NBCNews.com, edited feature political reporting, and led a project to bring software engineering and open-source publishing tools into the newsroom.

    Prior to that, Petulla worked for Contently, a publishing and marketing startup, where he was one the company's first ten employees and helped manage and grow its editorial and business teams. From 2010 to 2012, he lived in Washington, DC, where he was a writer and intern for The American Prospect and for Inside Higher Ed.

    Petulla attended Columbia's Journalism School and received a Bachelor's from Wesleyan University. He worked for Google for two years as an assistant before joining the journalism industry.
