• Mike Bruno is the editorial director at CNN Underscored, CNN's reviews and recommendations guide. He oversees content strategy and production across web, social, email and video.

    As a veteran media professional in New York City, Bruno has had the opportunity to manage editorial teams and develop content strategies for some of the world's most storied brands, including the Billboard Media Group (Billboard, Spin, Vibe and Stereogum) and Entertainment Weekly. During his tenure as head of editorial at Billboard, Bruno spearheaded the creation of several new editorial tentpoles, including the launch of Country, Dance and Hip-Hop Power franchises and the first-ever music-themed show on Snapchat. He also brokered a deal with the Recording Academy to create the brand's first live, multi-camera video production, The Billboard Live at the Grammys Red Carpet. At EW, as executive editor on the digital side, Bruno led the brand to several media awards, including an Editorial & Design award for Best Blog (EW.com's PopWatch) and best digital column (Watching TV with Ken Tucker).

    Bruno hails from Chicago, where he was born, raised and educated. He received his bachelor's degree in creative writing from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and also earned a Master's Degree from the University of Missouri Graduate School of Journalism.
