Michael Ballaban is the Transportation Editor for CNN Business, where he's been since April of 2020. He is responsible for CNN Business' coverage of pretty much anything that moves. Be it automotive, transit, or even outer space, his area of focus ranges from how something as seemingly mundane as highways shape societies and exacerbate inequality, to the most explosive rocket test.

Before joining CNN, Ballaban was the Editor-in-Chief at Jalopnik, as well as an Executive Producer and host of Car vs. America, a travel show on Fusion about the intersection of automotive enthusiast and youth culture across the United States.

Ballaban is originally from Long Island, New York, and graduated from the George Washington University with a degree in Political Communication.
