  • Lily Lee is an award-winning bilingual Newsdesk Producer for CNN, based at the network's Asia-Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong. She produces major news stories from the region, with an expertise in reporting on China. She is also part of CNN's Futures team, responsible for forward planning and staff deployment.

    Lee joined CNN in 2018 as a field producer in Beijing. She has travelled extensively across China for breaking news, investigative pieces, and feature stories.

    Prior to joining CNN, Lee was a producer and video journalist for the BBC based in Beijing. She covered both local and international stories including the Trump-Kim summit in Singapore, the Manchester bombing, the search for MH370, and China's military operation in South Sudan.

    Lee started her career in journalism in print media working for The Telegraph, China Daily and Swedish newspaper Expressen.

    She has been recognized for her work multiple times, winning an Asian Academy Creative Award in 2021 for Best Single News Story, a Royal Television Society Award in 2020 for Outstanding Breaking News Coverage and an Asian Television Award in 2015 for Best Single News Story.

    Lee graduated with a degree in English Literature from Beijing Forestry University and a Master's of Journalism from The University of Hong Kong. She is originally from Chongqing in China.
