  • Haley Thomas is Senior Producer of Original Series for CNN Audio. She started with CNN in April 2020 and is based in Washington, DC. In 2020-2021, she produced a number of politically-focused podcasts, including CNN Election 101, Politically Sound and CNN Political Briefing.

    Prior to joining CNN, Thomas was a field producer for BBC News based in Washington, DC. She traveled across North and South America producing audio, television and digital segments on major breaking news stories as well as in-depth longform features. She produced a range of segments, including on the immigration crisis at the US-Mexico border, police reform in the U.S., international aid being held at the Venezuela-Colombia border, and how a different way of cattle farming could help mitigate climate change, among many others. Thomas previously was a broadcast journalist with BBC World Service Radio and an audio producer for BBC World Service programs in London. In these roles she covered the 2016 U.S. presidential election and helped relaunch the BBC's Global News Podcast.

    Thomas originally hails from South Carolina. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and African Studies from College of Charleston and with a Master's degree in International Journalism from City University London. She lived in Malawi, South Africa, France and the United Kingdom before moving to Washington, DC in 2018.
