• Eryn Mathewson joined CNN Audio in April 2020 and is a producer for the podcast Silence Is Not an Option with Don Lemon. Now in its second season, Silence highlights people who took a stand for justice, despite significant personal and professional risk. Season one explored how racism influences American cultural institutions, politics and culture.

    In her role, Mathewson is responsible for pitching episode content, guest bookings, script development and editing audio for Silence. She also has produced for Dr. Sanjay Gupta's podcast, Coronavirus: Fact vs. Fiction (now called Chasing Life), and will write stories for CNN Digital on occasion. Notable stories include:

    Prior to joining CNN, she worked with The Undefeated/ESPN as the coordinator of the Rhoden Fellows Program, which develops aspiring sports journalists at HBCUs. Mathewson also produced the Rhoden Fellows Podcast and wrote stories centered around the intersection of race, sports and culture.

    Mathewson was raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico and received her Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology and Spanish from Howard University in Washington, DC. She earned a master's degree in journalism from the Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism in New York City.
