  • David P. Gelles is the Executive Producer of CNN+ political and live event programming. He leads a Washington based team producing daily programming and provides special coverage for debates, town halls, election nights, and inaugurations.

    As an Executive Producer for CNN he has been in the control room leading the team behind some of CNN's most-watched events including the insurrection on Capitol Hill, the Inauguration of Joe Biden, the 2nd Trump Impeachment Senate trial and the Derek Chauvin verdict. He produced special event coverage for CNN's Fourth In America and We Love NYC: The Homecoming Concert. Gelles also led the 2016 election night coverage, the most watched election night in cable news history.

    He joined CNN in 2013 as the senior broadcast producer of The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer where he supervised the coverage of breaking news, politics and reports from around the globe for the daily two-hour program.

    Prior to joining CNN, Gelles spent 14 years at NBC, where he worked at MSNBC, The Today show and Rock Center. He earned four Emmy awards for his work on The Today show and another Emmy award for his work on NBC's two-hour documentary Inside the Obama White House.

    Gelles graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Tufts University.
