  • David P. Gelles serves as the senior broadcast producer of The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer and CNN's executive producer of political programming where he leads the network's political coverage of major campaign events, debates, town halls, election nights, and inaugurations.

    Gelles joined CNN in 2013 and supervises the coverage of breaking news, politics and reports from around the globe for the daily two-hour program anchored by Blitzer. Gelles also led the 2016 election night coverage, the most watched election night in cable news history.

    Prior to joining CNN, Gelles spent 14 years at NBC, where he covered major breaking news events including the Virginia Tech shootings, the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and the death of Pope John Paul II. He earned four Emmy awards for his work on The Today show and another Emmy award for his work on NBC's two-hour documentary Inside the Obama White House.

    Gelles graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Tufts University.
