Over the last 30 years, he has covered most major US bankruptcies, including GM, Chrysler, Lehman Brothers, most US airlines and Sears, as well as the city of Detroit.
Isidore joined CNN in 1999, and has covered business and economic news since. Prior to CNN, he was a business reporter for the Journal of Commerce and Crain's New York Business. He started his career as a journalist in 1983 at the Gary Post-Tribune where he covered political beats such as county government, the Indiana statehouse and Gary City Hall before switching to business coverage in 1988.
Isidore grew up in suburban New York and attended the University of Chicago, majoring in political science. Isidore left without a degree in 1983 to take his first job. He received his degree from there in 2018.
