About

  • Amanda Hobor is the senior planning editor for CNN Business. She plans content coverage of stories and oversees CNN Business' reporters on television. As part of this role, she collaborates across all platforms and with CNN Business editors to plan coverage of events such as Apple's Worldwide Developers' Conference (WWDC), South by Southwest (SXSW), Consumer Electronics Show (CES), SpaceX and NASA launches, and others. Hobor was also a lead producer on a team that launched "The Table," CNN Business' first foray into live events.

Hobor began her career at CNN in 2005 as a production assistant and then spent 10 years as a business news producer, writing and producing hourly segments for CNN International. During that time, she became one of the lead producers for financial news on CNN US, producing daily coverage from the New York Stock Exchange during the depths of the financial crisis in 2008 and 2009. Over the years, Hobor produced interviews with various business leaders, including Howard Schultz, Warren Buffett, Richard Branson, Mark Zuckerberg, and others.

As a field producer, Hobor spent 10 months covering a recall by General Motors due to a faulty ignition switch, which led to more than 100 deaths. She produced interviews with victims and CEO Mary Barra, which appeared on "Erin Burnett OutFront" and "Anderson Cooper 360" and other shows. That culminated in a 2015 Emmy nomination.

Originally from Ohio, Hobor graduated from the University of Dayton with honors.
