  • Alex Thomas is a Sports Anchor for CNN International, based in our London bureau.

    As well as being one of the hosts of CNN's daily 'World Sport' show, Alex also reports on behalf of CNN from major sporting events around the globe.

    Contributing to CNN's coverage across all TV and Digital platforms, Alex has reported from the last four FIFA World Cups -- Germany, South Africa, Brazil and Russia -- as well as from several cricket and rugby World Cup tournaments. Alex has also fronted CNN coverage from the Wimbledon tennis championships, Open golf championships, Ryder Cup and more than half a dozen Champions League finals.

    Alex has interviewed global sporting icons including: Serena Williams, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Kobe Bryant, Jordan Spieth, David Beckham, Usain Bolt, Roger Federer and Beauden Barrett.

    In addition to presenting 'World Sport', Alex has also co-hosted the monthly 'CNN World Rugby' show and contributed to CNN's Vision programming 'Living Golf' and 'Open Court'.

    Alex joined CNN in 2009 after previously working for Sky News, Channel 5 News, ITV News and BBC radio. Alex started his broadcasting career in radio, while studying sociology at the University of Warwick.
