In one of his first tweets this morning, President Trump is choosing to chastise "the Mainstream Media."
Here's the tweet:
Two law enforcement sources tell CNN the inside of the package sent to De Niro is similar to the others. Using X-ray images, authorities can tell that the package has a similar device inside.
CNN affiliate WABC is following the suspicious package as the NYPD transports it to its Bronx facility.
Two law enforcement sources tell CNN that the suspicious package was on the seventh floor of the building where Robert De Niro's Tribeca Productions is based.
Eyewitness video shows NYPD officers securing the scene as they investigated the suspicious package inside.
New York's Greenwich Village was awoken with flashing lights and sirens this morning.
This is what the scene looked like after the NYPD responded to the suspicious package, addressed to Robert De Niro.
Two law enforcement sources tell CNN the package addressed to Robert De Niro had six American flags stamps, arrayed in two rows.
This is just like the other suspicious packages seen.
There was no postmark visible on the front of the package, similar to some of the other packages.
The City of New York sent out the following alert at 5:50 a.m. this morning, warning residents.
"Due to police activity, expect a heavy presence of emergency personnel in the area of Greenwich Street and Franklin Street, Manhattan. Consider alternate routes and allow for additional travel time."
The suspicious package under investigation in New York was addressed to the actor Robert De Niro, two law enforcement sources told CNN. It was sent to the building where his Tribeca Productions is based at 375 Greenwich Street, the sources said.
It had similar markings to the other packages intercepted Wednesday, including the packaging, the return address to former Democratic National Committee chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and the postage stamps.
The New York Police Department is responding to a report of a suspicious package received at a non-residential building in the Tribeca neighborhood of Lower Manhattan.
NYPD Lt. Thomas Antonetti told CNN that the package was received at 375 Greenwich Street and that the bomb squad is on the scene. Police received a report shortly after 4 a.m. ET, he said.
It’s unclear if this package is similar in nature to others addressed to prominent Democrats and to the CNN offices in New York on Wednesday.
Two businesses are listed at the address: the Tribeca Film Festival, and the Tribeca Grill. Both are associated with the actor and filmmaker Robert De Niro, who has been a critic of President Donald Trump.
