Colorado’s primaries will take place on Super Tuesday. In the 2016 general election, Hillary Clinton won the state with 48.16% of the vote, compared with Donald Trump’s 43.25%. Long known as a swing state, Colorado has settled into the blue column for the past three presidential elections. When Barack Obama carried Colorado in 2008 and 2012, he was only the third Democrat to win the state since the Eisenhower era. The others were Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964 and Bill Clinton in 1992. Denver, Adams and Boulder counties in central Colorado are the most Democratic areas of the state. The eastern and western borders of the state are reliably Republican.
