Arkansas’ primaries will take place on Super Tuesday. In the 2016 general election, Donald Trump won the state with 60.57% of the vote, compared with Hillary Clinton’s 33.65%. In the years since Bill Clinton was governor, Arkansas has become a thoroughly Republican state. Republicans have complete control of state government and make up the entirety of Arkansas’ congressional delegation. Before 2014, Arkansas hadn’t been represented by two Republicans in the US Senate since the 1870s. Asa Hutchinson is only the fourth Republican to serve as Arkansas governor since Reconstruction. The others were Winthrop Rockefeller from 1967 to 1971, Frank White from 1981 to 1983 and Mike Huckabee from 1996 to 2007.
