This advertisement aired soon after the first wave of Bush-Cheney '04 spots attacking Kerry. The commercial alludes, briefly and generally, to the four-term senator's military service and applies this idea of fighting "for his country" to Kerry's three decades as a prosecutor and elected official. The spot says Kerry has "the military experience to defend America" -- likely a subtle contrast to President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, neither of whom served in the U.S. military. (Bush was in the National Guard.)
