WASHINGTON (AllPolitics, August 6) -- As never before, the Internet has emerged as one of the most powerful campaign tools in the 2000 presidential campaign.
Due to the extensive of use of the Internet for campaigning, the Federal Election Commission (FEC) considers stepping in to change or regulate such use.
Earlier this year, some presidential candidates criticized FEC policies, that date back to 1975, for being too outdated. Some of them called for changing the rules that bar the use of credit card donations made over the Internet to qualify for federal matching funds.
