Former Jones Lawyers File $800,000 Lien
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AllPolitics, Feb. 20) -- Paula Jones' former lawyers filed an $800,000 lien against any money she receives in her lawsuit against President Bill Clinton.
Gilbert Davis and Joseph Cammarata filed the motion with the federal court in Little Rock, Ark.Thursday. The two attorneys represented Jones in her suit against the president for nearly four years before requesting to be removed from the case last fall.
The $800,000 would be payment for unpaid fees and expenses accrued over that period, according to Davis and Cammarata. "This is a way for us to get paid, so they don't forget us if there is a settlement," said Davis.
The two withdrew from the case amid a reported dispute over the acceptance of a settlement negotiated with Clinton's attorneys.
The lien should not be viewed as a sign that a settlement between Clinton and Jones is near, the lawyers said. "We have no indication of that," Cammarata said.
