Carrie Fisher is getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The late actress, best known for playing Princess Leia in the "Star Wars" franchise, will be honored on Thursday, May 4 — aka Star Wars Day.
Fisher died at the age of 60 in December 2016, a few days after she suffered a cardiac event on a flight from London to Los Angeles.
The success of "Star Wars" made Fisher an overnight star. Her tough-as-nails Princess Leia was strong and independent, and the role positioned Fisher in the decades that followed as something of a feminist icon.

Fisher, born in 1956, was the daughter of screen legend Debbie Reynolds and singer Eddie Fisher.

Fisher drew almost as much attention for Princess Leia's hair and wardrobe as she did for her performances in the movies. In 1983's "Return of the Jedi," Leia wore her brown hair in two enormous swirly buns over her ears, and she donned a revealing metal bikini as Jabba the Hutt's captive.
