Britain's Prince William and Prince Harry stood side by side Saturday as they mourned the death of their beloved grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.
It was the first time the public had seen the two brothers together since the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June. They were joined by their wives — Catherine, the Princess of Wales, and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex — as they greeted crowds and viewed floral tributes to the Queen that had been left at the gates of Windsor Castle.
The appearance was a surprise, not announced in advance. Screams erupted from royal fans as the four emerged, with many hoping the Queen's death would pave the way for a reconciliation between the brothers, whose tension is well-known.
The Queen is now lying in state at Westminster Hall before her state funeral on Monday.
Here are some of the stories that made headlines over the past week, as well as some photos that caught our eye.
