US President Joe Biden marked a major legislative victory Monday when he signed a $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill into law.

The bipartisan legislation, months in the making, includes $550 billion of new federal investments over five years, touching everything from bridges and roads to the nation's broadband, water and energy systems.

"The bill I'm about to sign into law is proof that despite the cynics, Democrats and Republicans can come together and deliver results," Biden said from the South Lawn of the White House. "We can do this. We can deliver real results for real people."
