Mike Krzyzewski, college basketball's all-time winningest coach, will be retiring after the 2021-22 season.

"My family and I view today as a celebration," Krzyzewski said in a statement released on Wednesday night. "Our time at both West Point and Duke has been beyond amazing and we are thankful and honored to have led two college programs at world-class institutions for more than four decades."

Over his 41 seasons at Duke, "Coach K" has won 1,097 games and five national championships. Only one coach, UCLA's John Wooden, has won more titles in men's college basketball (10).

Krzyzewski, 74, has also won three Olympic gold medals as coach of the USA men's basketball team. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2001.
