CNN  —

On the heels of back-to-back Democratic debates this week, President Donald Trump jetted to Cincinnati to do what he likes to do most: Speak to his adoring supporters.

Trump used the speech as a sort-of response to the two nights of Democratic debates, caricaturing the views of the Democrats running to face him in 2020 and using those issue positions as a springboard to tout his own successes.

I went through the transcript of the speech. The lines you need to see are below.

1. “I was watching the so-called debate last night. And I also watched the night before, that was long, long television.”

Long television. You bet. And away we go!

2. “Democrats spent more time attacking Barack Obama than they did attacking me, practically.”

True!

3. “So, we’ve got thousands of people standing outside, and I asked the officials, can we sneak some up along the aisles? Can they sit on the stairs? But I tell you what, this is some crowd, some turnout. We’ve sold tens of thousands of tickets.”

Trump is heavily invested in creating a perception of want; every arena has every seat sold out and thousands more people have to be turned away. I think he would say that if he was speaking in a high school cafeteria. It’s just who he is.

4. “And we won. And we won by a lot.”

Trump lost the popular vote to Hillary Clinton by almost 3 million votes. His 304-227 electoral vote margin was in the bottom third of all margins of victory by past presidents.

5. “We have the No. 1 economy on Earth. No economy is close.”

The US has had the world’s largest economy since 1871, which predates Trump’s presidency.

6. “Ohio is the most successful it’s ever been in the history of our country.”

I have no idea how Trump draws this conclusion. There isn’t a historic “success” metric I am aware of.

7. “I’m starting to like Mexico a lot. They do a lot more for us than the Democrats do, right, a lot more.”

Well, they did pay for that wall like you said they would! Wait...

8. “Five hundred seventy-two people were murdered in Chicago last year.”

The number is actually 539, according to the city’s medical examiner. Which still a ton – although 2018 was the second straight year that homicides were down in Chicago.

9. “You see, there are thousands of people outside and I said, I agree, we set a new record tonight at this arena but we could get a few more on the floors, a few more up here, we could get – and they’re outside where it’s 100 degrees out.”

Again, the need to create the perception of desire is so high in Trump. Every time he speaks anywhere, he sets a record for crowd size, in his own mind.

10. “But we broke the all-time record.”

All time!

11. “Deplorable was not a good day for Hillary. Crooked Hillary. She is a crooked one. Crooked.”

Yes, of course, the crowd began chanting “Lock her up!” after Trump said this. On a related note, the 2016 election ended 997 days ago.

12. “What they are doing to our beautiful California is a disgrace to our country.”

“In California, they don’t throw their garbage away. They make it into TV shows.” – Alvy Singer

13. “And our tax plan also created nearly 9,000 opportunity zones, hottest thing going, providing massive new incentives for investment in job creation in distressed communities.”

“Hottest thing going.” – The President of the United States

14. “They’ll get a little something and they’ll come right back, because there’s never been anything like this. There’s never been anything, right?”

Someone in the crowd faints. Trump’s response? The person will be fine because “there’s never been anything like this.” Totally normal stuff!

15. “Democrats deliver poverty for their constituents and privilege for themselves.”

This is a good line – and an effective one, politically. The problem for Trump is that it’s buried under his asides, misstatements and other general verbal ephemera.

16. “And did you ever hear sometimes you can do such a good job that not everybody appreciates it.”

In my head literally every day.

17. “He was sharp, wasn’t he? He was sharp as a tack.”

Trump is mocking Robert Mueller here, in particular the former special counsel’s testimony on Capitol Hill. Because of course he is.

18. “And please don’t recuse yourself because I gave you a nice welcome should I ever be before you. I love judges when they see you for about two seconds and then you say, ‘Oh, that judge should be fair.’ And then they say, ‘I’d like to recuse myself because 29 years ago I met Donald Trump.’”

The President’s understanding of the judiciary is truly mind-boggling.

19. “If a windmill is within two miles of your house, your house is practically worthless.”

Trump really doesn’t like windmills. It’s one of the things he is most consistent about, actually. Remember this one? “If you have a windmill anywhere near your house, congratulations, your house just went down 75% in value. And they say the noise causes cancer.”

20. “Remember the Soviet Union when it was all together, the Soviet Union when it was all together, before they decided we got to call ourselves Russia.”

What a history lesson!

21. “America is not being pushed around anymore, do you realize that?”

This is as good a summary of Trump’s foreign policy “vision” as I’ve seen.

22. “And until such time as there is a deal, we will be taxing the hell out of China, that’s all there is, OK.”

To be clear: American consumers pay for these tariffs, not China.

23. “In the bizarre world view of the third and hard left, they have no problem destroying the lives of innocent Americans for a single politically incorrect thought, but they want to virtually, and you know this, you know this, they want virtual immunity for illegal aliens who have committed horrible crimes and murder, horrible crimes and murder.”

Trumpism, in one sentence.

24. “You put the name in a basket, the country puts the name in the basket and you pick people out of the lottery. Well let’s see, this one’s a murderer, this one robbed four banks, this one I better not say. This one, another murder.”

That’s not even close to how the visa lottery system works.

25. “Democrats are now the party of high taxes, high crime, open borders, late-term abortion and they’re the party frankly of socialism.”

Get used to hearing this line a lot between now and next November.

26. “I used to get great publicity, nobody got better publicity. I had such a great life, it was so easy.”

John Barron would like a word.

27. “And I used to say, ‘You mean Lima?’ They said, ‘No, sir. It’s Lima.’ That’s why. Because – hey, look, I’ll be honest with you, because they have it wrong in the teleprompter, OK?”

The teleprompter, you say? “I’ve always said, if you run for President, you shouldn’t be allowed to use teleprompters. Because you don’t even know if the guy is smart.” – Trump, October 2015

28. “We’re investing in the future of human space flight, Americans won the race to the moon, and we will now win the race to Mars.”

Mars Awaits!

29. “No matter what label they use, a vote for any Democrat in 2020 is a vote for the rise of radical socialism and the destruction of our great, our beautiful, our wonderful American dream.”

“The American dream is dead.” – Trump, 2015

30. “We will be ending the AIDS epidemic shortly in America and curing childhood cancer very shortly.”

Well, this is good news!

31. “And just remember, with the Democrats, there is no Second Amendment. You can forget about keep and bear arms. You can forget it.”

No major Democratic politician has said they would repeal the Second Amendment.

32. “We are going to keep on fighting, and we are going to keep on winning, winning, winning.”

“We’re going to win. We’re going to win so much. We’re going to win at trade, we’re going to win at the border. We’re going to win so much, you’re going to be so sick and tired of winning, you’re going to come to me and go ‘Please, please, we can’t win anymore.’ You’ve heard this one. You’ll say ‘Please, Mr. President, we beg you sir, we don’t want to win anymore. It’s too much. It’s not fair to everybody else.’ And I’m going to say ‘I’m sorry, but we’re going to keep winning, winning, winning, We’re going to make America great again.’” – Trump, May 2016. This feels like a good place to end.
