A passenger plane crashed 13 minutes after taking off from Tangerang, Indonesia, on Monday, October 29.

Lion Air Flight JT 610 was carrying 189 people when it crashed at high speed into the Java Sea. It was bound for Pangkal Pinang, on the Indonesian island of Bangka, according to Indonesia's national search-and-rescue agency.

Among the 189 people on board were 181 passengers and eight crew members.

Experts from four different countries are analyzing the flight data recorder to piece together the last moments of the plane before it crashed. Fast-moving currents and muddy waters have been hindering recovery efforts.
