As if there weren’t enough reasons to celebrate (and eat) pizza year-round, October is officially pizza month. When we learned of this somewhat ridiculous (but totally deserved) tribute to pizza and all of its cheesy goodness, we began to think of all the ways one could celebrate. Whether that be eating it, wearing it, or visiting the best pizza spots in the US, we’ve got some delicious ideas for you.

10. Duetto Pizza and Gelato (Key West, Florida)

Located in the heart of Key West, Duetto Pizza and Gelato is a must-stop spot for pizza lovers. This little pizza place serves thin-crust pizzas with more than 20 varieties of toppings. These pizzas are also affordable — at just $16 for a classic 16-inch pie — and who doesn’t love that?

The signature slice is the “Meat Lovers,” made with Italian sausage, pepperoni, ham, meatballs, Italian mozzarella and provolone cheese.

What a TripAdvisor diner says: “The pizza choices are impressive. Wonderful crust, toppings were flavorful and just the right proportions. Loved every bite.”

9. Andolini’s Pizzeria (Tulsa, Oklahoma)

The history behind Andolini’s Pizzeria is actually pretty cool. The Andolini family was originally from Naples, Italy, before moving to Oklahoma. Their Italian roots must have influenced their knack for perfecting the “Tulsa-style” pizza in a Roto-Flex oven. Today, customers can’t get enough of the Andolini family’s New York-inspired pizzas with imported toppings and house-made mozzarella. There’s also a sprawling beer menu.

For those of you who may stop by, the signature slice is the “S.P.Q.R,” made with ricotta, garlic, house-made Italian sausage and prosciutto.

What a TripAdvisor diner says: “Tomatoes from Italy, fresh house-made mozzarella and crust baked on stone. We added chicken on one side and Italian sausage on other. Absolutely wonderful.”

8. Joey’s House of Pizza (Nashville, Tennessee)

Founded in 1999, this family-owned and -operated New York-style pizzeria — with Brooklyn roots and Italian heritage — is known for making hand-tossed pizza from scratch.

The signature slice is the “Joey’s Specialty Pie,” made with meatballs, Italian sausage, chicken, spinach, artichokes, eggplant and fresh tomatoes.

What a TripAdvisor diner says: “The crust is so delicious and the sauce, OMG, it’s the bomb. The pepperoni is so flavorful, you will wonder why every pizza place doesn’t use the real thing! And the cheese blend melts perfectly with those little bits of fresh, salty, delicious fresh mozzarella will make you salivate just thinking about them!”

7. Five Points Pizza (Nashville, Tennessee)

The signature slice? The “Prosciutto and Basil,” made to order on 2-inch bricks in old-school, gas-fired deck ovens. In fact, all the pizzas at Five Points Pizza are made from scratch daily, aged in-house, hand-tossed, and topped with hand-crushed plum tomato sauce and house-shredded mozzarella. This East Nashville location is one pizza spot you can’t miss.

What a TripAdvisor diner says: “It was really low-key and staff were great! It was tasty and crust cooked to perfection. Great choices for everyone, even the picky eaters. Get a big one — it’s even great when cold the next day!”

6. Juliana’s Pizza (Brooklyn, New York)

Juliana’s, a Neapolitan-style pizzeria located under the Brooklyn Bridge, has a great family story behind it. Formerly known as Grimaldi’s, the pizza place made a comeback after being sold and was renamed Juliana’s after Patsy Grimaldi’s mother.

In keeping it simple, Juliana’s signature slice is the “Classic Margherita” with DOP-certified San Marzano tomatoes, mozzarella and basil.

What a TripAdvisor diner says: “It is the best pizza, or at least tied for the best, I have ever had anywhere. The sauce, the crust, the toppings … oh my! The four of us ordered a large pepperoni and small margherita and left no crumbs!!”

5. Moose’s Tooth Pub and Pizzeria (Anchorage, Alaska)

Moose’s Tooth was founded in 1996 and has been serving hand-tossed, stone-baked pizza ever since. To sweeten the deal even further, the restaurant also has a brewery on site, serving Broken Tooth Brewing beer, and it even has a theater section.

Of course, you’d like to know that the signature slice is the “Amazing Apricot,” which is a blend of cream cheese, apricot sauce, red peppers, carrot threads, green onions, cilantro, mozzarella and provolone with blackened chicken on top.

What a TripAdvisor diner says: “This was the best pizza. What makes the pizza good is the crust. We went with the thick crust and to be honest a basic cheese showed it off. Wish I could keep a pizza warm on the flight home.”

4. Home Slice Pizza (Austin, Texas)

Whoever said everything’s bigger in Texas wasn’t kidding. Home Slice Pizza offers customers more than 20 toppings to choose from at its casual pizzeria setting. The pizza place, which has been serving homemade New York-style slices since 2006, offers guests a dine-in experience, or they can take the goodness to go.

What a TripAdvisor diner says: “When we first walked in, I was in heaven just from the smell! We were able to sit at the counter, which was entertainment itself watching them spin the dough. We split the White Pizza with meatballs. It was beyond good!”

3. Modern Apizza (New Haven, Connecticut)

Modern Apizza, which was founded in 1934, is known for serving New Haven-style, thin-crust pizza. Prepared in a coal-fired brick oven, the pizza is also favored for the generous amount of toppings that are piled on top, which makes the “Italian Bomb” its most popular pie. To give you an idea of what that’s like, the Italian Bomb is topped with bacon, sausage, pepperoni, mushroom, onion, pepper and garlic on a mozzarella base; available with red or white sauce.

What a TripAdvisor diner says: “I have been to Modern countless times. Always great. The pizza is thin and has a bit of a char to the crust. The sauce is very savory. My favorite topping is the sausage - perhaps the best I have had.”

2. Bleecker Street Pizza (New York City)

Signature slice? The “Nonna Maria”: an old family recipe with thin Tuscan crust, fresh Grande mozzarella, homemade marinara sauce, Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese from Italy, aged three years, and fresh basil. New Yorkers love this West Village spot and consider the “BSP” a classic.

What a TripAdvisor diner says: “Both pies were freshly baked. The pizza dough was the perfect balance between crunchy exterior and soft interior; there was just the right amount of sauce; the toppings were excellent.”

1. Regina Pizzeria (Boston, Massachusetts)

Pizza enthusiasts have been visiting the Regina Pizzeria since 1926. Also known as “Boston’s original pizzeria,” the signature slice is “The Giambotta,” which is topped with pepperoni, Regina sausage, salami, mushrooms, peppers, onions, fresh basil and mozzarella cheese.

What a TripAdvisor diner says: “Perfect chewy, thin crust, lots of fresh mozzarella; the sauce has great fresh tomato flavor. This pizza was very reminiscent of pizza I had in Naples and I haven’t found anything like it in the U.S. until now.”
