
A young fan enjoys the NBA's latest sensory room at Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah. The rooms "aid in both calming and stimulating the senses," according to George Ballew, a licensed clinical social worker and clinical director of the Peers Academy at the Heritage Treatment Center.

Intensive research and planning goes into designing and building the sensory rooms. Experts on sensory processing and autism offer suggestions on how each component of the space can be built to calm or stimulate a different sense.

The bubble tubes are a big hit among the youngsters.

At a preview of the new sensory room at the Vivint Smart Home Arena, young fans had the opportunity to meet Utah Jazz player Rudy Gobert.

Max Pratt, 10, and Jackson Pratt, 9, are Utah Jazz and Rudy Gobert fans. Jackson's favorite part of the sensory room was the technology station.

Sixteen-year-old Harrison Howell, a big Russell Westbrook and Oklahoma City Thunder fan, loves being able to attend games.
