'SNL' mocks Donald Trump over VP picks

Presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump is ruling out Marco Rubio as VP

The Florida senator is among several mentioned in a Washington Post story

Washington CNN —

Donald Trump is making it clear he’s not considering Marco Rubio as his running mate.

The Florida senator is an oft-mentioned name as a vice-presidential choice for the presumptive GOP nominee. Speculation heightened after Trump took to Twitter Sunday evening to dismiss those claims.

“The @washingtonpost report on potential VP candidates is wrong. Marco Rubio and most others mentioned are NOT under consideration,” Trump tweeted.

Rubio has been adamant that he’s not interested in the job of Trump’s running mate, telling CNN’s Jake Tapper last week that the real estate mogul should stick to candidates who “agree with him on his issues.”

“He’s the presumptive nominee at this point but he’d be best served by having someone, not just, by the way, a vice presidential nominee, but active surrogates who agree with him on his issues,” Rubio told Tapper. “My differences with Donald, both my reservations about his campaign and my policy differences with him are well-documented.”

Though Rubio is the only political figure mentioned by name, others cited in the Post story include Ohio Gov. John Kasich, Sen. Ted Cruz, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and 2008 vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

A Trump-Rubio ticket seemed unlikely. During the early part of the primary season Rubio was a frequent target of Trump’s mockery. Shortly before dropping his presidential bid, Rubio took to taunting Trump over his physical appearance.
