Michael Ford opened fire on the District III station in the Washington metro area on March 13 as his two brothers, Malik Ford and Elijah Ford, recorded the attack, police said.

Police Detective Jacai Colson, 28, was in plain clothes with no bulletproof vest when he jumped out of his unmarked car to confront the gunman.

Police said Colson was killed by friendly fire from a fellow officer in the confusion of the gunbattle.

Michael Ford, 22, was indicted on 55 counts, including second-degree murder, attempted murder and first-degree assault, reported CNN affiliate WJZ.

Elijah Ford and Malik Ford were indicted on multiple counts, including attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
