
CNN's Rosa Flores collected dozens of letters from students at St. Mary Star of the Sea School and St. Joseph High School in Chicago. The students shared their hopes and questions for the Pope. Flores gave the letters to the Pope while on the papal plane en route to Mexico. The pontiff is in the country from February 12 to February 17.

First-grader Diego Mora tells Pope Francis he is glad the pontiff is heading to Mexico.

"My grandpa and grandma are in Mexico," writes Alberto Vega. Alberto shares his wish for the Mexican government to help the poor and for people to respect animals.

Amber Constante says it is an honor to write to the Pope, and she is happy he is visiting Mexico.

"When you were in 1st grade did you ever think you would be pope?" asks Nathan Mendoza.

Thays Diaz asks, "How were you chosen to be the Pope?"

Natalia Vazquez says the Pope inspires her, and she hopes he has a chance to meet her Grandma Pena.

Mia Lagunas wants the Pope to pray for her grandparents.

"You are the best Pope ever in my life," writes Damian Chabot.

Emma Gonzalez wants the Pope to visit Chicago. "How did you feel when you were elected pope?" she asks.
