  • Sen. Al Franken said Donald Trump's turn hosting 'Saturday Night Live' will be 'entertaining'
  • Franken said he won't appear on the show while he's in the Senate

Washington (CNN)Sen. Al Franken might not agree with Donald Trump on much -- but the former "Saturday Night Live" cast member is predicting laughs when Trump hosts this week.

"I think it'll be an entertaining show," the Minnesota Democrat said of Trump's upcoming appearance Tuesday during an interview with CNN's Ashleigh Banfield.
Trump, a leading Republican presidential candidate, had severed his ties with NBC -- which had hosted his hit show "The Apprentice" -- after controversial remarks early in his 2016 campaign.
Franken has mostly stayed away from comedy since entering the Senate. He said Tuesday that he sometimes visits the "Saturday Night Live" cast, but that he won't appear again on the show while he's in the Senate.
"But maybe when I'm elderly," he said.
Franken praised Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's hosting of "Saturday Night Live" earlier this year.
"She's actually a really funny person and will make a great president," he said.
