Birdsville: The most famous one-horse town in the world

For 363 days of the year, Birdsville in Queensland, Australia boasts a population of 120. But for two days every September the tiny Outback town is transformed from sleepy backwater into a party capital as up to 10,000 revelers celebrate the annual running of the historic Birdsville Cup.
This year, specialist equine photographer Sharon Chapman made her first trip to Birdsville, traveling almost 2,000 kilometers (1250 miles) north by car from the Mornington Peninsula near Melbourne, Victoria to capture the race weekend's unique atmosphere.
