All it takes is a report that “Princess Diaries 3” might be happening, and Twitter lights up.
Disney hasn’t confirmed it’s actually happening, nor has the cast been announced, but fans are off and running. And despite all that chatter about how folks love to hate on Anne Hathaway, when it comes to this movie franchise, fans apparently can’t get enough.
‘Princess Diaries 3’ reportedly in the works
Over on Twitter reaction ranged from “Hold me” to “OMG.”
The rom-com premiered in 2001 with Hathaway as Mia Thermopolis, an American teen who discovers she is the heir to a throne, and legendary actress Julie Andrews as her grandmother, Queen Dowager Clarisse Renaldi. It’s based on Meg Cabot’s young adult novels.
A sequel, “Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement,” which brought future “Star Trek” star Chris Pine aboard as the love interest, was released in 2004.
