(CNN)John Stamos -- the Hollywood heartthrob known for his roles on "Full House" and "ER" -- was pulled over in Beverly Hills, California, then taken to a nearby hospital where he was arrested for having allegedly driven under the influence, police said.

Police got involved after getting numerous calls about a possible drunken driver, Beverly Hills police Sgt. David Armour said.
The 51-year-old actor -- the only person in his vehicle -- was pulled over, after which he showed officers his driver's license and identified himself verbally. Paramedics transported him to an area hospital due to a possible medical condition, according to Armour.
