After a week of rare bipartisanship perhaps it’s fitting the Republican and Democratic leaders in the House shared a quick kiss-on-the-cheek in the White House Rose Garden on Tuesday.
The pair were attending a White House reception this evening along with other lawmakers who supported the bipartisan “doc fix” legislation that passed last week.
It’s not the first time the two party leaders have shared an affectionate embrace, as Boehner delivered a similar kiss to Pelosi shortly after being re-elected Speaker of the House just after the new year. And in February, the Speaker also made a “pucker up” expression to the media when asked about keeping the Department of Homeland Security running.
“That was just a kiss, that’s all,” Boehner said when asked to explain what the gesture meant.
