(CNN)January 12 marks the fifth anniversary of the devastating earthquake in Haiti. The magnitude 7.0 quake affected one-third of the country's population, according to USAID. More than 230,000 people were killed, and relief organizations estimate that more than 300,000 people were injured and 1.5 million people were displaced. Amnesty International reports that on this anniversary, tens of thousands remain homeless.
