The White House released its “Year in Photographs” on Tuesday. Chief White House Photographer Pete Souza’s sixth annual roundup of 2014’s memorable “behind-the-scenes” moments captured by official White House photographers included 104 images spanning the last 12 months.

Included in this year’s photo gallery are images of the first family, Vice President Joe Biden and some of the Oval Office’s most memorable visitors. Souza and his staff also captured President Barack Obama’s trips abroad and interactions with foreign leaders, such as December’s historic phone call with President Raúl Castro of Cuba.

2014 was a year fraught with challenges for President Obama and his party, but very few of those obstacles take center stage in the photos. While Sen. Mitch McConnell and Texas Gov. Rick Perry both make cameos, the focus seems to be more on kissing babies than playing nice with the GOP or chronicling the HealthCare.gov roll out. According to Souza, “the President loves babies.”
