Variety reports that Robert Downey Jr is close close to a deal for "Captain America 3"
The film would bring to the big screen the Civil War storyline from Marvel Comics
The role could be worth $40 million-plus to Downey
His three "Iron Man" movies have earned $2.4 billion worldwide
It’s looks like we’ll get to see Robert Downey Jr. don the Iron Man suit at least three more times.
Variety reports that Downey is in final negotiations to appear in “Captain America 3.”
His Tony Stark character is already scheduled to appear this summer in “The Avengers: Age of Ultron,” and will reprise the role in “The Avengers 3.”
The “Captain America 3” storyline pits Captain America against Iron Man in the “Civil War” storyline from Marvel Comics.
In it, the government passes a superhero registration act, which requires those with special powers to reveal themselves to the U.S. government and help with law enforcement, according to Variety.
Iron Man is OK with it, but Captain America sees it as a threat to civil liberties and joins the underground.
If Downey inks the deal, it will be another nice payday for the actor. He’s expected to earn about $40 million and a share of the box office for his screen time.
Downey has already done pretty well with the three “Iron Man” movies. They earned $2.4 billion worldwide.
