Former President George W. Bush had partial knee replacement surgery over the weekend – this time on his left knee, just weeks after the similar procedure on his right, his spokesman Freddy Ford said.
The most recent outpatient operation was performed by the same doctor who worked on the right knee in Chicago on May 27, Ford said.
“President and Mrs. Bush are on their way back to Dallas this morning. He’s looking forward to getting back on his mountain bike in a few weeks,” Ford said.
Bush, 68, remains active and regularly rides his bike. In May, before the first surgery, he led a physically demanding bike ride at his ranch near Crawford, Texas, to honor military members wounded in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Last August, the former president had a stent placed in his heart after a blockage was discovered in an artery.
