The University of Miami temporarily ordered people to shelter in place Friday after an armed intruder was reportedly seen on its medical campus, the university said on its website.
Police didn't find anyone matching the suspect's description, and they have cleared the scene, Alvaro Zabalet, a spokesman for Miami-Dade police, said.
Zabalet said someone called 911 to report a man with a gun in his waistband. Police responded but did not find anyone matching the man's description, he said.
The alleged intruder reportedly was at the mental health center on the third floor of Miami's Jackson Memorial Hospital, the university said.
