13 killed in Afghanistan bombing; Taliban claims responsibility

A suicide bomber detonated his explosive-laden car in northeastern Afghanistan's Panjshir province late Thursday afternoon, killing at least 13 people -- including six police officers -- a provincial government spokesman said.
At least 30 other people were injured in the explosion, which happened at 5:10 p.m., said Kabir Waseq, spokesman for the province's governor.
The Taliban claims responsibility for the attack, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said.
Panjshir is one of 34 provinces that make up Afghanistan.
