7 killed in car bomb attack on military convoy in Somalia

A suicide bomber drove a car packed with explosives into a military convoy in the northeastern Somali city of Bosaso on Thursday, killing at least seven people and injuring 37 others, regional health minister Abdullahi Warsame said.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack in Bosaso, a port city in Somalia's semiautonomous Puntland region off the Gulf of Aden.
The Islamist militant group Al-Shabaab, which is fighting the government in hopes of turning Somalia into a fundamentalist Islamic state, has carried out similar attacks in the area in the past.
