'The guilt keeps coming' – Erin Hill works full time at a digital media company. Her daughter attends second grade at the public school near their home and goes to an after-school program at the YMCA. Her son, who is 5, attends a full-time preschool.
'The guilt keeps coming' – Much talk is made of women "leaning in" to career opportunities, Hill says, but for many mothers, working full time "isn't what we chose or what we wanted, and there is a real sacrifice."
'The guilt keeps coming' – Hill studied child development in college and always wanted to be a full-time mom. "Sometimes I feel like the parenting duties are made out to seem like this chore that no one wants to do, when in reality, a lot of people really like taking care of the kids and seeing them grow," Hill says. 'The guilt keeps coming' – This photo was taken while canoeing with the children on Lake Austin in 2010, shortly after her husband moved out. "I know that without a doubt my house is a happier place to be without the tension between my ex-husband and me. I didn't even realize the effect it had on all of us until it was gone," Hill says.
'The guilt keeps coming' – Hill's children smile for their first day of school in 2013. Hill says she knows her kids are lucky "in lots of ways." Although Hill says she struggles with guilt, they are well cared for, have a lot of people who love them and "my house feels like a happy home."
