Taking control – "It makes me sweat just looking at myself," Kevin Pippen says of this photo taken in May 2007. By July 2011, he weighed 370 pounds. His wife, Susan, wasn't significantly overweight at the time, but noticed she had a bit of a "muffin top."
Taking control – When he turned 55, Pippen decided it was time to make a change. He started walking and watching what he ate. He stuck to a low-carb diet for about a year, losing 117 pounds.
Taking control – In June 2013, Pippen weighed in at 190 pounds. His body fat percentage is now around 17%. "I've lost ... 22 inches off my waist in 20 months!" he wrote on Facebook.
Taking control – Pippen also quit smoking. He used only one nicotine patch and read the book, "The Easy Way To Stop Smoking" by Alan Carr.
Taking control – On October 12, Allen posted this picture to Facebook. "A temporary dip, but it's the first time I've seen my scales in the 170's!" he wrote. "Another pound less cuts me in half."
Taking control – The couple poses in Pippen's old swimsuit, a size 4XL. Pippen now fits into jeans with a 32-inch waist. Susan has also slimmed down -- going from a size 10 to a size 2.
Taking control – Pippen recently weighed in at 182 pounds. He's in maintenance mode, but still watches what he eats. The couple works out together several times a week.
